Publication Ethics

Singularities: A Transdisciplinary Biannual Research Journal upholds the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing practices. The following guidelines are adapted from COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards and apply to all stakeholders involved in the publishing process.

Author Responsibilities

Authors submitting to Singularities are expected to:

  • Submit original work that has not been previously published or under review elsewhere.
  • Acknowledge all sources appropriately using MLA 9th Edition referencing.
  • Avoid data fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation.
  • List all contributors accurately, ensuring proper credit and authorship order.
  • Disclose conflicts of interest or funding sources that could influence the research.
  • Ensure proper ethical clearance (if applicable, for human or sensitive research).
  • Comply with revisions requested by reviewers and editors in a timely manner.
  • Cooperate with editorial staff throughout the peer review and publishing process.

Submissions that violate these responsibilities may be rejected or retracted.

Reviewer and Editor Ethics

Reviewers are expected to:

➤ Maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.

➤Offer objective, constructive, and timely feedback.

➤Refrain from using the content for personal or academic advantage.

➤Recuse themselves in case of a conflict of interest with the authors or content.

Editors are expected to:

➤ Make publication decisions based on merit, originality, and relevance, not on personal or institutional bias.

➤Ensure a fair, double-blind peer review process.

➤Guard against plagiarism, unethical research, and academic misconduct.

➤Maintain confidentiality and integrity throughout the editorial process.

Plagiarism Policy

Singularities enforces a strict anti-plagiarism policy. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.

➤Acceptable similarity index: Up to 10%, excluding references and commonly used academic phrases.

➤Similarity between 10–20%: May be conditionally accepted after revision.

➤Above 20%: Rejected without review.

Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and uncredited paraphrasing, is considered academic misconduct. Proven violations will result in retraction and possible blacklisting of authors.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could bias their judgment or influence the research outcomes.

Examples include:

  • Financial ties to organizations related to the research
  • Personal relationships with other stakeholders in the review process
  • Competitive academic or institutional interests

A conflict of interest statement must be submitted at the time of submission and will be published alongside the article when relevant.

AI-Generated Content Policy

Singularities acknowledges the increasing use of AI tools in research and writing. The following guidelines apply:

AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, paraphrasers) may be used to assist with language editing, data visualization, or drafting support, but must not replace human authorship.

AI cannot be listed as an author under any circumstances.

Authors must clearly disclose any use of AI tools in a footnote or in the acknowledgements section.

The responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and ethical use of AI- assisted content rests entirely with the human author(s).

Submissions that are found to be fully or substantially AI-generated without disclosure may be rejected or retracted.
